Our Workshop
All our items are made manuallyto satisfy the tastes of our clients followinga series of steps, such as design with exact measurements, choosing the leather, making the patterns, etc.
DESIGN AND PATTERN
DESIGN AND PATTERN
It all starts with the design of a full-size piece on cardboard.
Rarely, if ever, is a perfect article achieved on the first try. Although there is always the temptation to start working on an object straight away without proper planning, leather can be unforgiving and it can be impossible to rectify mistakes that are made. The development of cardboard patterns is an essential preliminary step for the production of leather articles. It all starts with a precise sketch of the piece that has markings and measurements. Once all the dimensions have been calculated and all the pieces have been cut, we can change what we don’t like or what doesn’t look good, since there are times when the original idea we have gives rise to pieces that are the wrong size or that are uncomfortable or difficult to fit.
CUTTING
When we are certain that the pattern is completely accurate and that the leather selected is appropriate, it is time to undertake the first phase of the manufacturing process: cutting.
Cutting requires a sharp blade, adequate lighting and a flat, firm surface. You can’t be in a hurry to cut because, otherwise, we may make mistakes. When placing the pattern pieces, we need to avoid damaged areas in the leather, although leather is a natural material and some surface marks are unavoidable. This phase is very delicate since the areas must be selected so that the pieces maintain a uniformity of tones and textures.. When we are satisfied with the position of the pattern pieces, we mark them and proceed to cut them.

GLUED AND SEWED
GLUED AND SEWED
The pieces are then assembled using a different type of assembly depending on the characteristics of each one to subsequently proceed to sewing.
Sewing is a technique that hasn’t changed much over the years, except for the tools used. All seams are made by hand with two needles using saddle stitch, which provides a stronger seam than that made by machine. Unlike machine sewing, in manual sewing each stitch is done individually: hence, if they fray or break, the rest of the seam will not come undone and can be repaired without complications. Additionally, the thread is usually thicker and, therefore, stronger.
FINISHING STAGE
Once the body of the bag is made, we make the lining.
Most bags are lined with fabrics selected for their color and quality. We make each lining separately, as if it were another bag, with its pockets and zipper and it is sewn to the leather bag. We then proceed to place the handles. Then we proceed to place the handles. Handles have been previously made by placing the metal pieces and hooks which allow the length to be adjusted.
Finally, the edges are sanded and tinted. Cleaning and oiling will give the piece its final appearance.
